Whitney Houston and Dana Bash

Whitney Elizabeth Houston, born 9 August 1963 into a musically inclined family in Newark New Jersey is the daughter of Gospel star Cissy Houston and John Russell Houston Jr. She's also the cousin of singer Dionne Warwick. She began singing in the choir at her church The New Hope Baptist Church in Newark in the early years of her childhood and by the age of 15, she had begun singing backing vocals professionally with her mother on Chaka Khan's hit song from 1978 Im Every Woman. Then she went on to join the backing vocals of Lou Rawls and Jermaine as well as her mom. Beginning in 1981, she started working as a singer with New York's funk band Material. Her excellent vocals of this group that attracted the attention of record companies such as Arista. Whitney Houston became the top-selling debut single for a new artist in the year. Several hit singles including the hit songs Saving All My Love For You How Can I Tell You If That You Love Me as well as The greatest Love of All were released from the album setting the stage for her to beat the Beatles with seven consecutive US numbers one. Album sold in US 3,000,000 copies and then reached 25,000,000 copies globally. It earned her the first in her 6 Grammy Awards. The Whitney follow-up in 1987 with the singles How Do Broken Hearts GO and I Wanna Dance With Somebody helped to build on the success of her debut album. It was, however, the 1992 movie The Bodyguard that solidified her status as one the world's most popular artist. Although her performance in the film and its soundtrack were not popular but the Dolly Parton cover I Will Always Love You as well as the album accompanying it were top of the charts all over the world for months. In the same year, she got married to former New Edition star Bobby Brown with whom she had her only child their child Bobbi Kristina Brown, born in March 1993. Around this time her use of drugs was documented, and she started using it daily by 1996.

Dana Bash, also known as Dana Ruth Schwartz, is an American journalist and anchorwoman who serves as a political correspondent for CNN. Her previous work included NBC, CBS and other prominent channels. Additionally, she produces the CNN's weekend shows such as Evans & Novak Late Edition and Inside Politics. Bash is the recipient of several awards and honours. Elle magazine once listed Bash on the Women in Washington Power List.
