April Ross
April Ross, a beach volleyball player in the US is part of a select set of females who've won medals in multiple Olympics. Alix Klineman is the newest Olympian and is set to join her in Tokyo. Ross also hopes to get her first Olympic gold. At 39, it may be her last chance. The athlete is optimistic she can achieve top honors. Ross was quoted on NBC Boston as saying that if you play your highest, and even do well, we'll get the gold. This is also an issue of luck. Ross was born on the 22, 1982, at Costa Mesa California. She resided in the area together with her parents. While at Newport Harbor High School, she competed in numerous sports. As a prep-athlete, she also played indoor volleyball and track. However, she was a standout during this game. According to her biography, she was a middle blocker and an outside volleyball player throughout her time in high school. For her efforts she was awarded the 1999 Gatorade International Player of the year in Circle of Champions. In 2000, she won the Orange County Athlete of the Year award in volleyball. Ross has been working with Klineman from 2017 but her beach game was established well before the year. She has won major competitions with different players. A couple of those is an icon in the volleyball world. For six years from 2007-2013 she played with Jennifer Kessy who more recently was Klineman's coach. Along with Kessy, Ross won an Olympic Title in 2009 while competing internationally. The pair eventually picked up a silver medal at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. They were beaten out for the gold by the legendary group comprising Misty and Kerri Walsh (Jennings). Ross Jennings replaced May-Treanor when she announced her retirement. They both won beach volleyball bronze for the Rio Olympics in the year 2016. Ross was a college athlete at USC Trojans prior to beginning the start of her professional career. She played during high school, as well as some years before she hit the beach professionally. It was a successful performance for Ross during her time at the college level. In her first year at the school, 2000 earned her the Pac-10 and NCAA Freshman's of Award and also be named an All-American. The team also saw her help in helping the Trojans reach into the Final Four. The Trojans suffered a heartbreaking personal loss in her sophomore season, but she still repeated as an All-American. The two years following her she led the Trojans to the top of the mountain and won consecutive national titles. The individual accomplishments of her have established her as a volleyball legend. She won the Honda Sports Award 2003-04 for the top female NCAA player. Ross, who was a USC international relations student, was a volleyball star. Margie Ross didn't get to see Ross become the highest beach volleyball level. In 2001 when Ross was in her sophomore year in USC her mother passed away due to breast cancer. She is devoted to her parents who passed away. Margie is a source of inspiration in her life and on the beach.
